Growing up I’ve always been a person that dreams beyond my own imagination. I’ve never accepted the limitations that were placed on me from a young age. My first dream was to move to Canada and start a lollipop company. I  was 12. Obviously I had to tell my whole family about this great dream but they were quick to remind me of the ‘reality’ we live in so I slowly stopped telling my parents or any family member the big dreams I had. And throughout high school my dreams became few and less so the dreamer in me was asleep for a while.

When I got to university, things changed quickly, I found myself in a situation where I realised everyone around me was looking for something greater either in their lifestyles, academics or their general well being. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere for the first year and a half of my time at university because I didn’t know who I was and whose I was. I desperately needed to awake the dreamer within me that was fast asleep. But how to do this? Was the question. The light bulb went on in the most ordinary scenario but with extraordinary results. I found myself in my room after a night out, drunk and alone. Lost and confused. Trying to figure out why I kept making the same mistakes over and over again and yet it never made me feel whole in any way. I decided to do something I had not done in a really long time because i was so tired of being tired. I picked up my bible and opened it, and landed on a verse from Isaiah which talks about how everything I have done wrong was atoned for, and that my guilt is taken away (Isaiah 6:6-7)

It is not my nature to settle for safe so I knew the only way I would be able to truly be successful and brave is if I step out in faith

In that moment I found myself in complete surrender to Jesus Christ. I cried out to God and he comforted me with love and care and my life changed from that day on. It took me three years to truly get to the place of discovering what makes me unique and who I am. I knew deep down that I have been created for much greater. I started dreaming again, dreaming big dreams that scare me till this day. I started seeing myself in the places God created for me before he actually created me!

So as soon as I graduated from university, I decided to start my own company, Yellow Ray Digital which is a social media management and content creation agency. We specialize in page management, blog content writing, photography and graphic design. We are currently working with small and medium businesses in Zambia in various industries such as beauty and skin care, and logistics. The decision to start a business has not been an easy one but I know in my heart it is the path I am meant to be on. It is not my nature to settle for safe so I knew the only way I would be able to truly be successful and brave is if I step out in faith.

I am the perfect example of God’s unmerited favour, I have done nothing to receive all the grace and love that He shows me every day. And the minute I stepped into this realisation, everything in my life fell into place. My purpose was found in Him!
