We all reach a certain point in our lives where we have to decide the type of person we want to be. Whether we want to fit in because it makes us feel good about ourselves – especially when we are around people with so called ‘status’ – or whether we want to be the type of person that lives their life true to who God created them to be.
Are you able to be uniquely you? Do you know that who you are is actually an asset should you dare to embrace it?!
Do you know that who you are is actually an asset should you dare to embrace it?!
I have met many people in my life and there are those who have made the decision to be themselves, embracing who they are regardless of whether they become popular or not. They choose instead to live a life that impacts whomever they meet despite the fact that they won’t benefit from it. I have also met people that will only associate themselves with others that help further their own interests, or people that seem to be popular by society’s standards. I have seen these same people overlook those that might not look like they do, or be of benefit to them.
When you embrace who you are you no longer feel the need to fit in
It made me think really long and hard about what type of person I wanted to be and how I have been treated by those that made the choice to care for me – regardless of whether I could do something for them in return. It made me want to be that person that loves without ulterior motives, it made me want to embrace who God created me to be, it made me realise that my strength actually lies in who I am created to be. This made me want to overcome my insecurities, and although I haven’t mastered it, I know that each time they arise I can choose to rise up in the midst of them or allow them to tear me down.
When you embrace who you are you no longer feel the need to fit in, you realise your worth, and as you stay true to who you are called to be the right people gravitate towards you. You will no longer be easily led by the wrong people. You start to realise that when all is said and done what legacy do you want to leave behind? What do you want to be known for?
In a world where there are so many counterfeits, nothing is more powerful than you being YOU
Do you want to be true to who you are called to be and live a life that makes a difference or merely be part of a crowd that had status? Even though you knew, deep down, you were created for so much more. It won’t matter whether you were on the cover of a magazine, or you had thousands of followers on social media, what lasts is the difference we made in the lives of the people we came across.
In a world where there are so many counterfeits, nothing is more powerful than you being YOU, embracing who you are, acknowledging the areas that you need to work on. Lord, I know I have my areas I am working on but choosing to accept and respect where people are in their own journey as we do our best to live a life of purpose.
Much Love
